Ferragudo is one of the most attractive traditional fishing villages on the Algarve. Village life still revolves around the quayside square with its narrow cobbled streets and steps, meandering up from the old quay to the summit and the church. During the summer months the square is decorated with garlands, fairy lights and a stage where live acts and bands perform at the weekends and where locals young and old come out to dance, chat and people watch.
Ferragudo still retains a truly Algarvian feel which is complemented with excellent beaches and a local quayside market where you can buy fresh fish landed from the boats tied up a few yards away. This small and quiet village is also very well catered for. From great restaurants and beaches to local supermarkets, bakers, pharmacy, newsagents and banks/ATMs.
Its close proximity to other well known areas of the Algarve make it ideal for exploring and sightseeing. A few minutes drive will bring you to the bustling town of Portimao, the second largest town and port famous for its sardines; championship golf courses; stunning mountains and the Moorish castle and walled town of Silves.
